because my handwriting really sucks, and I can't draw. I need the lines so that at least most of the words of a sentence will be on the same line, but blank journals tend to be sold more often- especially if they are handmade! It's a sad life.
I prefer lines also. Without them my handwriting tends to go on an angle.
